Metroplex Homebuyers purchases Dallas-Fort Worth houses with delinquent property taxes, including houses already in a tax lawsuit or scheduled for a tax sale. The back taxes, penalties and interest are paid from the sale at closing, and any equity left over is yours.

How Texas Tax Foreclosure Works
Property taxes in Texas become delinquent on February 1. Penalties and interest start that day and grow each month, and on July 1 most taxing units refer delinquent accounts to collection attorneys, which can add a collection penalty of up to 20 percent.
To foreclose, the taxing unit usually files a lawsuit and obtains a judgment. The house is then sold at a tax sale, held on the first Tuesday of the month at the county courthouse.
Ways to Stop a Tax Foreclosure
Paying the full balance stops the case. Many taxing units also offer installment agreements, and a homeowner who is 65 or older or disabled can defer taxes on their homestead, which pauses collection and can abate a pending tax sale.
If none of those fit, selling the house pays the taxes in full. We check the balance with each taxing unit, confirm whether a lawsuit or sale date is pending, and work back from that date.

I would recommend this company to anyone interested in selling their home. Brandon and Justin were both very friendly and knowledgeable about home buying and selling. I was very satisfied with the whole process from the start to the finish. Selling my home in "as is" condition was the best thing that I've ever done. I went from foreclosure warnings to paying off my home and moving to a nice rental house. No more mortgage payments, taxes, or homeowners insurance to pay. I was able to pay my rent for a year, and renters insurance is doable. I truly believe that this whole transaction was a God-sent opportunity to help me out. Blessings, Linda Peznell
Response from Metroplex Homebuyers
Thank you so much for your kind words Linda. We are so glad we were able to help you out.
The title company collects the payoff from every taxing unit, including penalties, interest and any attorney fees, and pays it at closing. It also pays any mortgage or other liens on the house.
What is left after the payoffs and closing costs goes to you. We buy as-is, charge no commission, and pay the traditional seller closing costs.
We can also help with the move: lining up movers and handling anything you leave behind. In some cases we can arrange a leaseback after closing, so you have time to settle into your next place.

We would highly recommend anyone to use Metroplex Homebuyers LLC. From the first call to the final details of the sale, they were wonderful to work with and immediately got to work to make the sale happen as quickly as possible. Josh came out to view the property the next day and gave us a very good bid for a property that is appraised higher, but was very fair because it needs a lot of work. He also helped us navigate through the e-signing process and even offered to come to us if needed. Brandon was very nice and enthusiastic throughout the process. Shylia and Kelly helped make sure the taxes were paid and Shylia helped us to understand that they would not be late and that the tax office goes by the postmarked date. We have never mailed our tax payment and wanted to feel comfortable that all of that was cleared in our name. We were paid cash, as is, and were given the option to have the money sent as an electronic deposit, which was in our account within a couple of days. We are very appreciative of their hard work and helpfulness throughout this process. This is the company you've been looking for! Thanks again to a great team!

Thank you so much, it was great working with you! :)
Texas gives owners a right to redeem after a tax sale. For a homestead or agricultural land, the redemption period is generally two years; for other property it is generally 180 days. Redeeming means paying the buyer what they paid plus a premium set by law.
Redemption rules are strict and the deadlines matter, so call us as soon as you can. We will tell you plainly whether a sale or a redemption is still possible.
How it works
The same simple process every seller gets, applied to your situation.
1
Tell Us What You Owe
Enter the property address or call us. Share any tax notices, the lawsuit papers and the sale date if one is posted.
2
Review Your Written Offer
Your offer is usually ready within 24 hours and shows how the tax payoff affects your proceeds. We buy the house as-is.

Close Through a Title Company
The title company pays the taxing units and any other liens at closing. When title is clear, closing can take as little as seven days.
Common questions
Can I sell my house if I owe back property taxes?
Yes. The back taxes, penalties and interest are paid from the sale at closing, and any equity left over is yours.
Can I sell after a tax lawsuit has been filed?
Usually, yes, as long as the tax sale has not happened. The title company pays the full judgment amount at closing, which ends the case.
When does Texas sell houses for unpaid taxes?
Only after a court judgment. Tax sales are held on the first Tuesday of the month at the county courthouse.
Can I get my house back after a tax sale?
Often. A homestead or agricultural land can generally be redeemed for up to two years after the sale, and other property for 180 days, by paying the purchase price plus a premium set by law.
I am over 65. Can I stop a tax foreclosure?
A homeowner who is 65 or older or disabled can defer property taxes on their homestead, which can pause collection and abate a pending sale. Your county appraisal district or tax office can explain how to file.
Metroplex Homebuyers gave us the best price for the house we sold, and honored everything they said they would. In addition, their sales agreement was clear and straightforward. All the staff I dealt with were courteous, professional, and helpful, and the title company they work with was very much the same. Overall, this was a very good experience.

Thank you so much David, we really do appreciate it!
Brandon at Metroplex homebuyers was absolutely great throughly the entire process. I would defiantly recommend him and his team to anyone looking to buy or sell their home. Simple, fast, easy, and they gave us the most for our house.
Metroplex Homebuyers made selling my house an extremely easy and worry-free process! Josh came out quickly and made me a great offer on the spot! By the next day, Brandon had contacted me and was in touch with the title company to ensure that the closing went smoothly. Every time I had a question (and I had LOTS of questions) they answered promptly and thoroughly. They were friendly and appreciative of my business! The title company they work with was also wonderful. A notary even came to my house to make my life easier. The house was paid off and money was in my account the next day! I highly recommend this company to anyone that wants to sell their house quickly and for a great price.
